Our plant stand will open 05/28/22 this year and we'll be working a few markets as well.
Northern Blue Flag(Iris versicolor)
Did you know the type of iris currently in your yard most likely originates from Europe or Asia? Yet, there there are underappreciated irises native to Michigan that are being passed over in home landscaping efforts. Consider picking the plant that has evolved to support local wildlife.
Native irises are loved by both butterflies and hummingbirds and can be a wonderful component to your landscape. They can also tolerate a wide range of soil and sun exposure.
Plants are currently provided in recycled plastic pots donated to our nursery by community members (size varies, especially at the farmstand!).
Why are We Planting This?
Loved by pollinators and hummingbirds
Native irises also have a rich medicinal history. As we ever so slowly learn more about home herbalism, it may be something we explore more in the future. For now… we just really like pollinators and hummingbirds.
